‘Hyped Knowledge’
a series that questions our knowledge about food
‘Today you better eat this, but the day after you better eat that. Today this food is healthy for you, but the day after it isn’t anymore.’
What do we actually know? What do we eat? What is the truth about our food?
In this series, the images show a surrealistic representation of food. It questions the relationship, the truth and the knowledge of food, as well as the hypes that surround it.
Each image shows it’s own contradiction. Healthy food, vs. non healthy food. Natural-made food, vs machine-made food. Vegan, vs non-vegan. Good fats, vs bad fats. A tree of broccoli with growing sugar candy, because where does our food actually come from?
Images are sketched that are not really there. Just like our knowledge. What do you actually know about food?
Inspired by the cookbooks from the 50’s, also the time when adverstising to stimilate consumption got started, and the consumer society was created.
